It’s hot. The August sun bears down in rugged late summer fashion. We water plants in the garden in a desperate effort to quench their thirst as the heat evaporates every drop it can.

It’s napping weather.

Saturdays are the end of my work week. By this time of the afternoon, I am ready to let go of work stress and remember all the reasons I work at all — to sustain our lives, of course, first and foremost.

Still, I daydream the writer’s life.

One of my own design. One that affords me the flexibility I need to take care of my family.

Life has again thrown a curveball. The changes that abound and are up ahead will be some of the most difficult ones I’ll ever navigate. It compels me to contemplate the meaning of life.

My philosophy of life stretches in myriad fashion on this lazy Saturday afternoon in the sun.
