Life is Now
Morning Bulletin #2
As I reflect on the last twenty some years of our lives, I think a lot about how much living for the future has robbed us of being present in the moment.
Work, school, pursuing goals to achieve security and status, whether it be a better job or degree. To be respected as equal members of society with some financial security is really all we wanted.
It’s time for life reckoning.
We strove for these things, but now it may not matter.
It’s possible it was just the difference of a being a few hundred dollars short that brought about this life altering event.
A few hundred dollars can feel overwhelming when your job breaks your body and the landlord won’t relent. Just another week, maybe two… and then done.
But no.
We must remain lockstep. Work, pay, work, pay. Even if you are exhausted and in pain.
What is this stranglehold for living on the earth?
This morning, I am grateful that we even have this morning. It is a miracle that my son is still alive. He sits quietly while recovering from a traumatic brain injury. His second surgery was a few days ago. He’s doing well, they tell me.
