On Death and Dying
When time slows down
My mother is dying. She has stage four lung cancer that has metastasized into her bones.
It is not an easy death to endure.
My sister and I are at her bedside as much as we can muster, shepherds of any comfort we can provide.
Often we sit quietly, present, resting with her.
Time is different. Other people in our lives are having a hard time comprehending what we’re going through.
Death is on its own schedule.
Someone told me months ago that sometimes we just need to take time to live. Now, it is about allowing time for dying. It is a profound walk through space and time.
So if you are near and do not understand the why, what or when, just know that the final act is its own dimension.
